Supporting information about our activities, as used in our application

The Orchestra provides training to its members in the playing of a wide range of orchestral music (a list of works performed in the last 22 years was enclosed), under the tuition of a professional music teacher as conductor and musical director.
We rehearse weekly during school term times and work towards formal or informal performances between 2 and 4 times per year. Through such performances we seek to educate the audience via programme notes and other means.
We often give opportunities to local young soloists to perform concertos with us and have performed a number of works written by local composers.
We have collaborated with a local group of singers to put on performances of two operas from which the proceeds raised were given to specific charities (programmes were enclosed). We have also accompanied a local church choir in a Christmas concert.
Concerts are given in various churches and other concert venues in the city of Oxford and elsewhere in Oxfordshire.
The orchestra is open to players of all ages, without formal audition. We have been pleased to welcome members from overseas (including Japan and India and the USA) who have been living temporarily in Oxford.
